Natural Skin Care
Your skin is a window to what is going on inside your body. From acne to aging is your body’s way of communicating its nutritional needs. So not only what you put on your skin but what you put into your body as well plays an integral role in a healthy, glowing, youthful complexion.
To keep your skin healthy and looking its best the following vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are beneficial. The most important are Vitamins C & E because of their power to counter the effects of sun exposure. They do this by reducing the damage caused by free radicals which is a harmful by-product of sunlight, smoke, and pollution.
Vitamin A is necessary for the maintenance and repair of skin tissue. Fruits & vegetables are loaded with this important vitamin. When used topically it reduces lines and wrinkles and is a good acne control.
Minerals are also very beneficial for skin nutrition. Selenium plays a key role in skin cancer prevention. These can be taken in supplement form. Copper together with vitamin C & the mineral zinc helps to develop elastin, with are the fibers that support the skin structure from underneath. They also have been found to firm the skin and restore elasticity. Zinc is important for acne as sometimes acne itself is a symptom of a zinc deficiency. Zinc works to clear the skin by reducing oil production and controlling the formation of acne lesions.
